St James Anglican Church Morpeth
The Building
The church was built to fullfil a vow. Lieutenant Edward Close promised God that if he survived the Spanish Peninsular War he would build a church as an act of thanksgiving. Close survived, and the foundation stone was laid on January 2, 1837. The construction of sandstone walls, using locally quarried stone lined with handmade bricks, was carried out over a three year period. The church was completed in 1840 and consecrated on December 31, with St. James as its' Patron, by William Broughton, the first Bishop of Australia.
Gathering
In union with Christ, we gather to adore God at the following times:
Sunday 9am Sung Eucharist
Friday 10am Eucharist
7.30am Holy Days Eucharist
The Divine Office is said in the church each Monday to Friday:
Morning Prayer 7.30am
Evening Prayer 5.30pm

The Little Red Apple Gallery
Built in the 1870s, this unique Landmark has a wealth of history and attraction to the local population.
In the 1970s, the building was opened as an Italian Restaurant, The Little Red Apple, with imported Red Glass windows, being its distinguishing feature. It operated as a well renowned Restaurant with its intimate fine dining and, the place to meet, until its closure in 1997.
In 2003, after purchasing the building in a derelict state, Proprietors, Geoff and Jenny Gibson have spent many painstaking years in restoring and transforming the interior and exterior, to a bright and charming residence. The warm and inviting atmosphere has recaptured the same ambience as it had in the 1970s with added features including a delightful Courtyard and a serene Cottage Garden.

Battlezone Playlive
Battlezone PlayLive presents the Hunter's newest adventure sport, Laser Skirmish! Laser Skirmish is a team oriented combat simulation game that can be played indoors, outdoors, in daylight or at night. It is similar to paintball, yet since there are no projectiles, there are no bruises. Great for all ages!
Laser Skirmish is like a live computer game! You get to sneak through the bush and take out the enemy using red dot scopes, just like on the Xbox or PS2, but this is reality, not 3D graphics. This is about as realistic as it gets outside the military! You get rolling battles played out over huge battlefields, with real team-mates...and enemies.
Laser Skirmish is a tactical game. Communication and teamwork are critical in achieving your mission objectives. Rather than being in close contact with your enemy from the outset (as in paintball), you often start a considerable distance apart, usually out of visual range. This means you need to find your opposition before you can engag

Gartelmann Hunter Estate
THE COMPANY
Founded in 1996 in the beautiful Lovedale area of the Hunter Valley, just two hours North of Sydney, Gartelmann is a winner of many Wine Show Trophies and hundreds of medals. The business was established by Jorg & Jan Gartelmann. This gave Jorg, an aeronautical engineer by profession, an opportunity to convert his long-held passion for wine into a full-time commitment.
Gartelmann produces only Hunter Valley wines and sources top quality fruit from the best Hunter Valley vineyard sites, an approach borrowed from the ‘negoçiants’ of France.
THE WINES
The Gartelmann wines include Semillon, Verdelho, Chardonnay, Rose, Merlot, Shiraz, Sparkling White and Sparkling Shiraz and are completed with the addition of an ice-wine style Semillon/Chenin Blanc, Liqueur Muscat and Liqueur Shiraz.
Gartelmann wines are available at the Cellar Door, via the Internet, the Wine Club and mail order.

Beckett and Owen arrived from England in 1838, and quickly diversified their High Street business to become ‘General Merchants, Tailors and Woolbrokers, Wine, Spirit and Tobacco Merchants’.
Between 1892 and 1963, the building housed Maitland Girls’ High School, one of the first four public high schools established in New South Wales. Some changes were made to the propert
