About our product....... Morpeth Sourdough is traditional, authentic sourdough bread using the same recipe and techniques used by our forefathers in colonial times. The bread is made using only flour, purified water and sea salt, no baker's yeast or chemical additives are used and every loaf is hand made. As a result, no two loaves are ever the same. The unique flavour profile of our sourdough comes from the presence of naturally occuring microorganisms present in the dough. These microorganisms ferment the dough causing it to rise, whilst producing flavours that not only taste natural but are also good for you. The other benefit is that our product lasts much longer than yeasted bread.
Our Restaurant...... The Regions newest fine dining restaurant at the Historic Arnott Bakehouse. Open for lunch & dinner Wednesday to Sunday. Bookings Essential. Fully licensed & BYO (wine only) with stylish menu showcasing Regional & organic produce.

Where we are............ Morpeth Sourdough is situated at historic Morpeth, a steamship port established in 1821 on the upper Hunter River. Our site comprises the historic bakehouse, shop and residence, once the home and workplace of the Arnott's in the 1860's. Morpeth Sourdough is made in the original residence and shop which connects to the bakehouse.
Our family's history...... A family company, Morpeth Sourdough, has a connection with the early days of the Hunter Valley. Stephen Arnott, the proprietor, is the great great great grandson of William Arnott, who established a bakery at High Street West Maitland in 1853 and with his brother at 148 Swan Street Morpeth in 1862. Since then, involvement of the Arnott family in baking covers six generations and one hundred and fifty years. Now that the Arnott family is baking again, we will make certain that we remain a wholly-owned Australian company. Our family's tradition is quality guaranteed and we aim to continue this tradition.
