Steeped in history, the Federation Gothic building housing Maitland
Regional Art Gallery is an awe-inspiring example of early 1900s
architecture. Officially opened in 1910, the building was constructed to
house the Maitland Technical College, which it continued to do until
1987.
MRAG focuses on arts education and repeat visitation, it aims to
deliver high quality, energetic, and accessible art, cultural
programming and enjoyment for the growing community of Maitland and its
visitors. MRAG’s mission statement aligns with Maitland City Council’s vision
to support a vibrant, healthy, equitable and informed community in the
City of Maitland.
MRAG shall be seen by the community of Maitland and its visitors as a
place of inspiration which is a lively, accessible, welcoming and
enjoyable destination that adds to the diversity and vibrancy of the
City of Maitland and encourages repeat visitation, learning and social
interaction.
